She also has experience working for multiple managed care companies, both providing behavioral health case management, medical case management and utilization review services and managing teams of clinicians. This has enhanced her knowledge of the managed care industry and strengthened her patient advocacy skills, increasing her ability to help members navigate today's complex health care system.

Angela has worked with adults experiencing severe and chronic mental health problems including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, major depression, and anxiety. She has also worked with adults that have experienced many different types of abuse/trauma. In addition, Angela has special interest in women's issues, anger management, dissociative disorders, complex trauma, adjustment disorders, parenting/life transition issues, and grief and loss issues including pet loss. One of Angela's passions is supporting other mental health clinicians as they do their own healing work.

Strategies utilized to promote healing include trauma therapies such as EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting, TFT (Thought Field Therapy) tapping, a mixture of parts work modalities (IFS, ego state therapy, DMNS (Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy) and attachment repair work for early life relational traumas.

Professional affiliations include the National Association of Social Workers, the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, and the Case Management Society of America.  Ms. Viesca is also a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, a Certified Case Manager, and a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager.

NOW OFFERING

DEEP BRAIN REORIENTING THERAPY

Deep Brain Reorienting Therapy was developed by Dr. Frank Corrigan, a psychiatrist from Scotland. It is a transformative and innovative trauma therapy that focuses on the mid-brain structures to target and resolve shock responses that are often stored by the brain outside of conscious awareness.

"Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) aims to access the core of the traumatic experience in a way which tracks the original physiological sequence in the brainstem, the part of the brain which is rapidly online in situations of danger or attachment disruption. There may be threat and attachment wounding together when, for example, an experience of abandonment in infancy activates age-appropriate fears for survival."  (www.deepbrainreorienting.com)

Much of the therapeutic experience for clients that undergo DBR Therapy is centered around noticing physical tension in designated areas of the body. This differs greatly from traditional talk therapy and affects the brain/body in a way that can allow for release of pre-affective shock experiences.

Ms. Viesca has participated in skills/consultation groups led by Dr. Frank Corrigan, MD to further hone her skills to the level of excellence her clients deserve. She also traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland to train with Dr. Corrigan  and Martin Warner in May 2024 to learn more about the integration of Deep Brain Reorienting and the Alexander Technique. She completed additional training with Martin Warner in October 2024 in Seattle, WA to deepen her skills in application of Alexander Technique interweaves/instruction, and continues ongoing participation in consultation groups with Martin Warner.

You can learn more about Martin Warner's contributions to the integration of DBR and the Alexander Technique HERE.
