About Me

Becca Wassmuth, MA, LMFT-Associate

If there is one relational message out in the world that I would like to market differently it
is this: “Relationships take work”. Personally, I would re-frame it as something like this:
“Relationships take nurturance, attention and moments of connection”. Just as a plant
does not grow because we wish it to or tell it to, relationships require attention, care,
and occasionally some focused healing within our own minds and between our partners,
friends and family members. I believe that by learning how to be at peace with
ourselves and the world, we can learn to be more adept at being relational with others.

I work within an attachment theory lens that seeks to uncover the survival needs that
make us react so we can be more relational with ourselves, others and the world. I also
scan for developmental stages that we may be stuck in that keep us from moving
forward or finding meaning in our lives. If you are seeking help in eliminating negative
thoughts about yourself, finding meaning, working on partnership issues or parenting struggles, I am here to help. I especially enjoy working in the areas of Premarital counseling, Marital issues, Discernment Counseling, Pre-Divorce issues and Parenting Through Divorce.  I am Gottman level 1 trained, Relational Life Therapy module 1 trained and Prepare/Enrich
trained to enhance the work I do with couples.

I am a former yoga instructor with a masters in speech-language pathology and
counseling (marriage and family therapy) which gives me a unique knowledge and
understanding of human development and how the brain and body can work together.

I have also been married for 20 years with 2 children and have decades of experience

navigating family dynamics. I will help you to better understand yourself so that you can make

better sense of your world and how you react to it. I offer a nonjudgemental stance with

unconditional positive regard, but also, as needed, a no-nonsense view on exploring the self and
relationships. I am here to journey as deep as you are willing to go or just to be a
sounding board for thoughts and feelings that you feel you can not tell anyone else.
Please feel free to reach out if you would like to know more about how I work. I offer a
free 15-minute consultation for any questions you may have about working together.
