Patricia Hatfield O'Donnell, LCSW

Pat wants you to know that dealing with a mental health issue and getting support is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength. You are not alone in your journey.

Pat was born and raised in the hills of Tennessee. A graduate of David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, she obtained a BA in Communications (theatre), Art and Psychology and began work with the Tennessee Department of Children Services investigating sexual abuse cases. In 1989, Pat graduated with a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and began work with the TN Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities. Over the years, she has also worked with psychiatric facilities, managed care companies and intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs.

Pat excels at working with adults that are coping with depression, anxiety, adjustment/life-transitions, grief/loss, abuse (child or adult), and/or spiritual issues. She has extensive experience working with those managing past trauma, including sexual abuse and domestic violence. Pat and her clients address ways to establish safety and identify coping skills for improved daily functioning. Pat also has valuable experience as a case manager, and is able to provide supplemental resources as needed to her clients. Pat also enjoys working with couples that want to improve communication and better understand their relationship with each other.

Relationship and rapport are crucial in the therapeutic process, and Pat is extremely interested in learning about her clients needs and expectations for therapy. She helps her clients explore their hopes and fears about their therapy journey and is honored to assist them every step of the way.

Manuel Santarriaga, LPC

I have been passionate about helping others since I was very young, and fifteen years ago, I discovered that I wanted to do more to help people. Because of this, I acquired a Masters of Education degree in Counseling from Sul Ross State University in 2013, and became a Licensed Professional Counselor.  I have been in the helping profession for more than 11 years, and I have worked in different settings including a psychiatric hospital, a substance use agency, and different mental health outpatient clinics where I have obtained years of varied experience helping individuals and families.

My experience encompasses helping people living with mental health issues such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression and anxiety among others.  My training includes, but is not limited to, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent Child Interactive Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Group Crisis Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma Informed practices.

Extensive training has provided me with the tools to assist people in healing trauma, which has been the heart of my work.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship between clients and therapists plays a central role in healing, and the sessions I conduct focus on empathy, kindness and attentive listening centering on your experiences. I work to create an environment in which you can feel safe.

One can be kind to family, friends and even strangers, and I believe that each person is a valuable human being that deserves to be treated with kindness; this includes self-kindness. I hope to be the person to guide you in your journey to heal.

I am also able to provide services in English or Spanish.

Shawn Marie Towle, LCSW

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Texas and have worked as a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist for nearly 20 years. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. In 1997 I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from University of Texas at San Antonio.  I then moved to Austin and obtained my Master of Science degree in Social Work in 2002 from the University of Texas.

I have years of experience working with children and families as a psychotherapist and have also been able to utilize my clinical skills in a variety of other settings, including the San Antonio State Hospital, Child Protective Services, Communities In School, Utilization Management roles, and as a Complex Case Manager.  Working in these different areas has given me a more robust view that helps me treat my clients from a client centered orientation within a systems perspective.

I have extensive experience working with children, adults and families involved with the Child Protective Services system, affording me the opportunity to specialize in grief, loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, attachment, coping with life changes and self-esteem issues.    I have been introduced to these individuals at the one of the most painful and stressful points in their lives.  I am honored to have been present with my clients to share in soul shaking moments, and subtle shifts that have led to profound changes.  I truly love what I do!

My passion is Play Therapy, working with young children who may not yet have the verbal skills to express themselves or process their worries.  Other approaches include: Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy.  I am excited to also incorporate EMDR into my practice with clients of all ages.
